Tamsin is a contemporary ceramic artist originally from the South West of U.K. but now based near Ansião in Central Portugal.
Tamsin studied craft and design, specialising in ceramics, for 5 years in Bath at one of the most renowned art schools outside London, Bath Spa University and Bath College.
She moved to Portugal in 2015 and set up her own ceramic studio. Whilst raising a young family, her main focus has been on her own practice, but in the last two years she has opened the doors of her studio to take on students, offering classes and courses in many different techniques, firings and decorations.
In her own practice, she works mainly with hand building techniques, which allow for organic form and a ‘wobbly edge’, a signature of Tamsin’s work. She also enjoys the formality of mould making and slip casting.
Constantly inspired by nature, with quick, expressive decoration and usually a splash of gold lustre, Tamsin’s work is unique and bold.
In September 2022, she was selected as a finalist in the Musée de Carouge International Ceramics Competition, with an exhibition in Geneva from September to December alongside some of the world’s finest contemporary ceramic artists.
Tamsin enjoys the simpler things in life. Slow living and conscious consumption are an important part of the brand. Everything is produced with sustainability in mind.
